Rise to Glory

“Rise to Glory” these are the words imprinted not only on our emblem but also on the heart of every member of Phoenix house. People might see ourbright yellow house T-shirt as just some outfit, but to us, it’s our skin.

Phoenix is a creature from Greek mythology. A Phoenix is a bird with a body of inferno that lives through the ages, standing the test of time for centuries to come.Associated with the Sun, a Phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. The phoenix symbolizes renewal and so do we.

The house system has been brought to bring up a change in the school for a brighter future. I, as the first ever captain of Phoenix House, hope to set up a few standards for the ones to follow so that a legacy will be carried on.

Talented minds have been put into this house. Hopefully no one will disappoint in bringing good to this school. A school isn’t just made up of education alone. There are many factors that come into play when it comes to success, and one of them is keeping the right relationship with the right people. Also there is a bigger factor, a key factor that really decides a person’s path to greatness, and that is to know all kinds of people and also to separate the good from the bad.

Our house system has just started. We the seniors have lots of different plans on how we wish to lead throughout the remaining time we are left with. There will be events where each house would be standing against each another and we hope to come on top. I, for one, am not afraid of losing. There are two reasons for that; Phoenix House has nothing to lose and secondly every loss should be seen as an opportunity. Every time we fall, we must pick ourselves up. We fall because we’ve made a mistake and every mistake is an opportunity to fix ourselves and improve. A mistake is nothing but a golden chance to learn something to come out stronger than we were before.

As the very first captain, I hope to set up certain standards for my fellow house mates to live by and I promise to do my best.
