The University of Cambridge International Examinations Curriculum is followed with minor alterations to suit the local linguistic and cultural traditions.

O LEVEL SUBJECT CHOICE POLICY

Cambridge O Level, an internationally recognized qualification equivalent to the UK General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), provides learners with excellent preparation for academic progression to Cambridge International AS and A Levels. The School offers subjects in two streams:

  1. Major in Science
  2. Major in Business

Major in Science is designed for students who wish to study Medical Science or Engineering or any subject in Science discipline at undergraduate level. Students can enroll themselves with a maximum of 10 subjects, including all core and elective subjects, in O level.

Core Subjects: Bengali, English Language, Bangladesh Studies, Mathematics D, Additional Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry.

Elective Subjects:

Biology, Economics, Computer Studies, Statistics & Principles of Accounts.

Major in Business:

Major in Business is designed for students who wish to study Chartered Accountancy, Management Information System or Economics or any Business subjects at undergraduate level. Students can enroll themselves with a maximum of 10 subjects, including all core and elective subjects in O level.

Core Subjects: Bengali, English Language, Bangladesh Studies, Mathematics D, Principles of Accounts, Economics

Elective Subjects: Business Studies, Computer Studies/Statistics, Additional Mathematics

* If a student (major in Commerce) wants to enroll himself/herself with Mathematics in A Level, she/he must have either Additional Mathematics in O level or minimum ‘A’ Grade in Mathematics D in O Level.

O LEVEL / A LEVEL EXAM REGISTRATION POLICY

Screening Exam for O Level and A Level candidates will be conducted every year in the month of January. All those students who fail in the Screening Exam will not be registered for the board exam from the school.

O LEVEL EXAMINATION SITTING POLICY

  • Students’ total subjects are split in two sittings:
    • First O Level sitting is held at May-June session at the end of Class IX. In the first sitting, Students must sit for Bengali and Bangladesh Studies. Classes will not be provided for these above mentioned subjects in class X. To ensure the good result in O level exam, the subject teachers of the respective subjects should make a proper plan to complete the O level curriculum by the First Term Exam in Class IX.
    • If any student having major in Science is enrolled with Principles of Accounts, he/she must sit for the subject in the first O Level sitting at the end of Class IX.
  • Retake for improvement is allowed in October-November Session.
  • Retake students are not allowed to remain absent in classes. They must attend regular classes.
  • 70% attendance and acceptable performance in the Screening Test are pre-requisite for registration.

AS AND A LEVEL SUBJECT CHOICE AND EXAMINATION SITTING POLICY

Cambridge International AS and A Levels are internationally bench-marked qualifications providing excellent preparation for university education. Good A-Level results can give a student access to undergraduate studies at the best higher education learning institutions in the World.

Subjects Offered: Mathematics (AS: P1, M1 &A2: P3, S1), Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Business Studies, Computing, Accounting & Economics.

Students can enroll themselves with a minimum of 3 subjects and maximum of 5 subjects. If any student is enrolled with more than 5 subjects, classes are not provided for the additional subjects and he/she must score a standard Grade in the Screening Test to be allowed for A Level sitting.

A Level Exam Sitting Policy

  • Students must sit for A Level Exam in May-June Session and will not be allowed in October-November session.
  • If a student fails to score an acceptable Grade, the school authorities will decide whether he/she will sit for next October-November session or May-June Session of next year.
  • Retake students are not allowed to remain absent in classes. They must attend regular classes.
  • No special class is provided for retake students.
  • 70% attendance and attaining benchmark in Screening Tests are a pre-requisite for registration.

Rules of changing subject (CC)

Students are allowed to change subjects up to Class- 8 only.  Afterwards, they are not allowed to change the subject unless the subject teacher advises them to do so. Once they choose the subject, he/she will have to continue it for at least 6 months before taking another subject. However, a student can drop a subject if he/she is unable to cope with it. For choosing a new subject, an application has to be given to the Section Head who will in turn seek the opinion of concerned HOD before permitting change of Subject.
